2 weeks down and 8 to go

5th grade is really different. I'm not sure how I feel about it. The attitude that comes out of these kids is HORRENDOUS. I miss my sweet 4th graders! They looked up to me, hugged me, listened to me, and wanted to please me. They would DIE if they ever disappointed me even a little bit. The 5th graders question everything I tell them to do, and don't do it anyway. They roll their eyes at me, talk back to me, and completely ignore me at times when I talk to them.

It's also difficult keeping up with 100 kids. I used to know every paper or assignment that was missing from my 23 kids. I don't realize how kids are doing in the class until I am grading things at home, and then I only have the kids for an hour or so the next day. It's just not personal and I feel like I am just shoving information don their throats for an hour and then hustling them out to the next class...

I am glad that 2 weeks are finished. It feels like it is going fast, but slow at the same time with 8 weeks to go... Hopefully they will go fast because there is so much benchmark testing and the STAAR is coming up. This will be my first time administering state tests. Another good learning opportunity.
