Okay... 2017 was a bad year for the blog. In my defense, I had started my Birthday trip blog, but never completed it. It's definitely been too long for me to finish it, so delete it I did, and I will just do a massive 2017 Re-Cap. I am quite positive I will have very few views on this blog (unless I post it to Facebook), but I do enjoy documenting my end-of-year thoughts and reflecting on them as the years go by. I just read my end of 2016 Blog, and it's so refreshing to see that I had absolutely no idea what the year had in store for me, and it turned out to be pretty great.
2017 in a nutshell
January - Slow start to the year, but started dating someone
February - Hot Chocolate 15K + Journeyed to New Orleans for Mardi Gras
March - Traveled to Colorado and attempted skiing
April - Went to Houston to cheer on Momma Latawiec as she did the Avon Breast Cancer Walk
May - Birthday trip to San Francisco with a little jaunt out to Napa
June - Broke my toe and had to have my toenail removed on June 14th (Gross)
I was stuck with the boot for 8 weeks, thus having to freeze my OTF membership.
June Continued - I traveled to Seattle, WA. It was absolutely beautiful in the Summer! I wish my toe hadn't been broken!
July - Presented at the PLC conference for Frisco ISD. Traveled to Denver (again), and did some hiking! Hooray for the boot getting taken off at the end of the summer.
August - Salvaged what I could of the summer and celebrated Jackson's Birthday. Began my 6th year teaching 5th grade.
September - Crazy, busy month of back to school
October - Ended things with the person I was seeing... then Traveled to MAINE with friends.
(I really should do a Maine blog)
November - Went to Napa, CA with my Mom. Cheers. Also, I became a Rodan + Fields Consultant
December - Ran in the Dallas Marathon Relay and took Mom to Austin to go to the LBJ Presidential Library
I am glad that I have friends and family that are willing to go off and have adventures with me. New Orleans, Colorado (x2), Seattle, San Francisco/Napa (x2), Maine, and Austin is a pretty good list of travel destinations. I have also had a solid year professionally, and look forward to growing more and seeing what happens in 2018. I would definitely say that the Broken Toe, and let down in the man department were my disappointments for this year, but I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason.
Again, I like to look back on my former blogs, see what I was thinking and hoping for in the upcoming year. So for 2018 -
Travel - I have NOTHING on my Agenda [yet] for travel this year! That just means that I will have to make an effort to take spontaneous trips. I want to make more of an effort to visit states that I haven't been to and explore them thoroughly. I would also like to see a trip abroad happen, or at the very least start to plan for one.
Health - I am going to run a Half-Marathon in January with my Dad! I want to get back to doing Orange Theory unlimited, but am also interested in other types of work-out classes. I can do any work-out that is thrown at me, I just have to get my food under control. Still not feeling the need to run a Full Marathon again, but may try to run a couple of Half-Marathons this year.
Career - I think I'm going to put some feelers out and attempt to become an Assistant Principal (open to other districts). It's in God's hands, but I'm going to try. If it doesn't work out, I am perfectly happy teaching 5th Grade at my current school. I'm also going to try and see what happens with Rodan + Fields.
My goals are not as specific this year as they were last year, but I hope that I can look back on this blog and be proud of what I did.
