Mayhem

This past week has been Crrraaaazzzzzzyyyyyy. Hope you enjoy this 5 day Re-Cap:

Sunday: Made the long trek to Cleburne for Father's Day, and Katie came to my apartment to spend the night before her planned trip back to Arkansas. I had taken advantage of sleeping in that morning, so Sis and I were up all night playing games and being goofy.

Monday: Summer School in the AM, afterwards I went to have lunch with Katie, and we decided she should spend the day with me since I didn't have any plans. Sister time is always fun.

Tuesday: Summer School again. I got back and saw Katie off to Ark. She was gone, I was caught up on work, and just chilling in my apartment when I had a revelation. I wanted to start working on my Masters Degree. I got "List Happy" and started researching the program that I had only been considering as an option for the future. Now that my first year is behind me, I am teaching the same grade level and subject next year, I don't have a family at home, I decided that this is the time for me to go for a Masters in Educational Leadership at UNT. The first step is to Take the GRE, so I registered to take it on July 12th. After that is taken care of, my to-do list consists of 1.) Applying to Grad School, 2.) Applying for the program : Update Resume, get a supervisor letter of recommendation, Write and Essay of why I want to Earn this degree. I still need to make an advising appointment to discuss more details, but my lists have been made, and if all is turned in by Nov. 15, 2013 - I should be able to start taking classes in the Spring of 2014! Here is where things started getting WEIRD. I was on my Grad School high, and driving to go tutor a former student, and I hit a pot hole. I knew it didn't sound good, but I drove on anyway. I was on Preston, about a mile away from my destination when my Low Tire pressure light came on, and cars were honking at me. I knew something was wrong, but wanted to make it to the students house as opposed to the side of Preston (and thank goodness I did..). Got out of the car, and discovered TWO flat tires on my driver's side. okay NBD, I have Hyundai Roadside Assistance, gave them a call, told them of my situation, and they said they were sending a guy down. I also have had to deal with this many times before with my VW Beetle, so I knew the drill. I go in, do an hour of tutoring, and the guy shows up right when he was supposed to. He looks at my car and says to me, "I didn't know you had 2 flat tires! I'm going to have to switch one out so I can hook it up to the truck." Okay whatever, do what you gotta do, right?! 10 minutes later he says, " Ma'am, I've got bad news..." I'm thinking.. Uhmmmm it better not be something bad about my car! "My Jack just broke, and I'm going to have to call in another guy with a flat bed truck." So he does this, tells me it's going to be another 45 minutes, and then  just takes off!

While I'm waiting for the new guy to come around, I am having to figure out how I am going to get around the next day since I obviously won't be making it to the service department on time anymore. I was pissed off that my Roadside assistance situation wasn't really ASSISTING me. I had called them about hooking me up with a loaner car, and they told me to call the dealership. They said they didn't have anything for me... long story short, we came to the conclusion that I should just call a cab to take me to work in the morning.

I had to listen to the tow truck driver's life story the whole 12 miles to the dealership, and when we got there I was sooooo relieved to see Richard and Kathy waiting there to take me home! It was 8:30 PM at this point! They took me home, and as we were discussing which cab company to use, and after I pulled out cash for the potential cab, I just decided that I could RUN to work in the morning. The summer school campus is only 5.7 miles away from my apartment, and I run that distance all the time! I was pumped about this new idea. I would save money AND get my work out in early! Then the Hyundai car service could pick me up from school and reunite me with my car. GENIUS. I packed my backpack and went to sleep, since it had been a long day, and I knew I needed to leave my apartment at 6 AM now that I was running to school.

Wednesday: 5:40 AM wake-up call. I rolled out of bed, brushed my teeth, put on my shoes and work out clothes, put my back pack on, and was out the door. I had a nice warm up walk and the weather was perfect. My running app went off and told me to get this party started. I had my back pack on as tight as it could go, but it was still awkward to run with, and bounced on my shoulders. The first 20 minute run was simple for the most part though. I was running faster than usual because I had the stress of being late to work. The second 20 minutes were also successful. I was passing other runners on the way, and felt really silly with my back pack on. The third leg of the run was the worst part. My shoulders were really starting to kill, my knee was hurting, and it was all uphill! I had to stop to walk several times. I ended up making it to school at 7:12, really red face and DRENCHED in sweat. I was 18 minutes early and practically gave my self a sponge bath in the teacher bathroom with the washcloth I brought along. I felt suuuupppeeeerrrr gross for those few hours, but I at least looked presentable.

While at work, I learned that my car was not going to be ready for me on this day. 1. They needed to get the tires in stock, and 2. Inspectors needed to check out my tires since there were 2 flats, and Hazardous Road insurance wouldn't cover unless those guys went out there and gave them the go ahead. The tires were going to make it in the afternoon, but the inspectors couldn't come until the morning! Another day without a car!!! Bleh! Luckily, my partner teacher at summer school offered to drive my home, and another teacher teaching at summer school that works with me at Christie offered to drive me to school in the morning. At least I had my rides lined up! I had originally made plans to meet friends that night, but both were able to work around my not having a car situation and they came to me!

Thursday: I woke up early again, knowing I had yet another full day ahead of me. got picked up for work which was awesome. Had another day of summer school, and was wondering why I signed up for this again. I also had a training to go to in the afternoon. My partner teacher was so sweet and drove me all the way to subway so I could get some food, and then dropped me off at my training. I learned before the training started that my tires were going to be covered, YAY, but they recommended I get an alignment, so I had to pay for that. NO WORRIES. I arranged to be picked up from the training by the hyundai guy.

The guy drove snail speed and we had to pick someone else up. I got my car back, immediately had to go tutor again. After I tutored, I immediately left to go to Lewisville to meet up for Sarah's Bachelorette party. I was so happy to have my car, but the craziness of the last few days was starting to get to me. I was a trooper throughout the whole party and got home at 1:00AM

Friday: Which takes us to TODAY! omg... I can not even process what I have been through this week. MAYHEM. As I type this blog I am so grateful for the weekend, but know that it is going to be just as crazy! Since this blog was long enough, I'll update after the Wedding Weekend and last week of summer school soon!
