11 miles done!

We have broken the odd mile number curse!!! (Hopefully)

Yesterday, Rachel and I ran 11 miles without having to stop and walk! We did it in just under 2 hours. I think that after pushing our bodies, but more importantly our MINDS toward running 10 miles, we felt a little more confident that we could do it. We were still scared, because throughout our entire training program, we had horrible running days when we had to run an odd number of miles.
  • Week 2 when our long run was 5 miles, we had to stop several times to walk, stop to pee, and felt horrible the whole run. It was also a really hot day, so that definitely contributed to our run.
  • Week 4 at 7 miles, was pretty rough as well
  • Week 7 we had to do 9 miles and again, we had to stop and walk 4 or 5 times throughout
I had never put it together in my head that our worst long runs were odd numbers! This especially wasn't a curse I wanted to have considering a Half-Marathon is 13.1 Miles!!!! So we took this 11 miles seriously. I am so glad we broke the curse!

I am feeling more confident that I can accomplish this goal, and am feeling really great about this training program.

One more week until Thanksgiving Break!!! It is so needed! During this week the goal is to run 3 miles, 5 miles, and 3 miles. Rachel goes out of town on Friday, so I am on my own for my weekend run. This weekend the training program gives our legs a break and a chance to re-coop, so I only have to run 6 miles. I have done that before by myself, so I'm not too worried. This is also the weekend of my friend's wedding, and my flight to Tulsa to start the vacay at my mom's place. The week of Thanksgiving I need to run 3 miles and 5 miles FOR SURE, but would like to squeeze an extra 3 miles in on Thanksgiving, however I am not going to stress out if I don't. When I get back to Texas, Rachel and I will take on 12 miles!!!!

I have NEVER been a runner. In just 6 months, I have gone from barely being able to run for 3 minutes to running 11 miles! It is amazing what your body can do when you set your mind to something.
