When I run, I get it the zone, and although there is music blaring in my ears, I usually do my best thinking on a run. I have planned out a baby shower, a wedding shower, thought about my students, lesson plans, grad school homework, etc. It is usually pretty productive in my head. Today I did a lot of reflecting as I passed by the familiar sights on this trail.
We have been training for EIGHTEEN weeks. I am so blessed to have such an amazing friend that has gone through this crazy running journey alongside me. She pushes me farther than I ever thought my feet and legs could have possibly taken me. We've sacrificed our Friday nights to eat pasta and go to bed early so that we can knock out the long runs early on our Saturdays. She has opened up her house to me weekend after weekend so that we can wake up, eat breakfast (that she cooks), and leave together. We have had some amazing runs, and some wimpy runs, but we have done all of them together [minus the time she had to fly off to an island.] And I'm pretty sure we can do this thing come December 14th!
In case you haven't caught on.. I love my Rachel! (Sorry John)
A year ago today, Rachel and I were scouting out the ice situation in Dallas, because she had convinced me to join in on the "Icepocalypse" Marathon that was happening despite the event being cancelled. If interested in reading or re-reading about that crazy experience click here.
Even though we ran our first13.1, it was "unofficial" to us. We wanted it to be for real, and so we did the same 12 week program again for the Dallas Rock&Roll Marathon.
Ran our first official Half-Marathon and got our medal! Super detailed blog on that run here
For fun I had to throw in some Color Run pics
