I just re-read this blog post that I made last year, and I have to say, I am pretty proud of myself! If I knew then what would transpire throughout the year, I would be shocked! 2014, like 2013 was another HUGE year for running. In 2013 I logged 382 miles into my running app, and in 2014, I ran around 800-900 miles!!!! I switched from Couch to 10K/Strava to Map My Run, so I did my best to estimate. I also was an avid body pumper/ zumba go-er for the first half of the year. Once the summer started, my fave group X instructor got a better job, my travel plans took over, and I slacked a bit on the strength training. Once marathon training started, running was the main focus. My travel plans in the summer of 2014 were practically non-existent at the new year!
I took 6 grad school courses in 2014 and have made A's in all of them!!! Last new year I was nervous about taking on extra schooling on top of teaching, but I have somehow made it this far. I also became the 5th grade team leader, and am working hard at school to be the best teacher leader I can be for my students and my campus.
The focus(es) for 2015....
Balance. I want to continue to work on being the best version of myself I can be. I have drive and ambition, but too often stress takes over and an area of my life that is important to me falters. I can pull off a big to-do list and come out on top sometimes, I just want that to be the case more often. Theses important areas are: Health/Wellness, Grad School/Work, and Personal life/Fun Stuff.
Health/Wellness - I will continue running, but not at the marathon level. I will re-commit to going to body pump twice weekly, and I want to participate in a weekly yoga session. I must get back on my gym grind, but still keep the balance with running.
Although I already work out 4-6 times a week, my nutrition has been off since about May... I am re-committing to eating clean 80-90% of the time and prepping my meals at home. I've kicked off this new year with a 24 day challenge, and on day 25 I will be running a half-marathon in Austin, TX.
I don't care about a number on the scale (right now). I just want to feel healthy again.
School/Work - If I stay true to healthy goals, and get plenty of sleep, school and work shouldn't be as stressful. I have 4 grad courses left to take, and I want to make 4 A's. I want to keep up with my grading and lesson planning on a reasonable schedule, so that all of the other teacher "stuff" doesn't pile up on me. (I am most nervous about this 'resolution')
I look forward to receiving my Masters degree this year :)
Personal/FUN - I want to do something awesome every month. I have great friends and this already happens for the most part, but I wanted to voice(type) it.
For example: January - Austin Half-Marathon; February - Trip to New York (booked!); March - Trip to Las Vegas(booked), Dallas Rock & Roll Half-Marathon (?); April - ?; May - ?; etc.
I already have the first 3 months booked with fun activities! I look forward to discovering the surprises 2015 has to offer, and reflecting on this blog in 2016!
