Schooling

Tomorrow morning I have my first observation from my supervisor. I am preparing tonight and will probably get to school extra early to prepare tomorrow.

I'm being observed in Math over Probability. It should be okay. I read a book to the kids (Jumanji) and discuss what the odds are for one of the characters to roll a 12. Then they get into partners and are given 2 dice and a recording sheet. They are to record how many times they roll each number 2-12 until one is rolled past the "finish line" on the Recording sheet. then we have a large piece of butcher paper to record all of their results. If all goes according to plan, we should see a nice bell curve on the paper, so I hope it goes well! The point is for the students to see how numbers 2 and 12 are least likely to be rolled, because there is only a 1/36 chance, but numbers like 7 and 6 will have a more likely chance to be rolled. My supervisor will be there for 45 minutes, so if I finish early (which I'm hoping I don't!) I have some warm-up problems to do on the document camera.

I am also teaching science (Conductors and Insulators) and Reading. We're reading Old Yeller chapters 4 and 5, and just discussing a little bit. So I am almost at full take-over of the classroom! I am going to miss those 4th graders when I go to Kindergarten. I think now I have decided that I would take a job in 4th grade over kindergarten any day!

My certification test was harder than expected. I really hope I passed. I would be pleasantly surprised if I did, but not surprised if I didn't. :( AHHHH I won't know for another 2 weeks so I should just move on with my life for now...
