I wanted to share the furniture I purchased off Craigslist today!
7 pieces for $200.. not bad!
I am going to use the dining buffet as my TV stand in my next living room. and the hutch mounts on the wall. I think it would be great for books/decorative accessories, etc.
At first I wasn't interested in the table and chairs, but she wouldn't give me just the buffet for $100, and told me to just think of it as getting table and chairs for free. After looking at them I thought they would be perfect for an apartment because the sides fold completely down, and I would only need 2 chairs in an apartment anyway! There is also a leaf, so it has the potential to seat 8 comfortably, but can be tucked away in a small space.
I find myself torn on something though. I LOVE the buffet exactly how it is, but the table and chairs could really be redone. But do I redo the table/chairs and not the buffet? The buffet also has tons of potential to be redone as well with new paint and hardware, but I don't want to screw it up....
There was a paper under one of the chairs that showed the pieces came from Foleys, in Houston, TX. The date on the paper was August 1952... The pieces were her great-grandmother's. I bought them from a young couple who were expecting a baby and were trying to make room in their home. Another successful experience with Craigslist!
Shout out to my Gran and Grandad who drove all the way out to Grapevine to eat lunch with me and go check out the furniture. They were so kind to go out of their way to drop it off at my Mom's house in Aledo! Thanks guys!
