DIY on the brain

Despite not having a summer job, I have kept really busy this summer. I can not believe it is mid-July!

I have gone to Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Las Vegas this month. I have seen a TON of my friends lately (grateful), and prepping for a move into a new apartment and my classroom. I found out that I can start moving things into my classroom July 23rd! That's so soon! It will be nice to get classroom things separated from my living quarters, and out of my mother's temporary town home she will be moving out of shortly!

I went on an expedition to some of my favorite furniture/home decor stores this past week. I didn't buy anything of course because I don't have money, but I love to walk around and get inspired. I also love to see things I could re-create on my own! I am obsessed with burlap right now, and found lots of future DIY ideas in these stores!

I loved this frame. Cheap metal frames can be found at Ross, TJ Maxx, or TARGET duh, wrap some matting in burlap, beautiful black and white photos of family members or a special German Shepherd and viola. Way cheaper than the one I found at West Elm

Keeping up with the Burlap theme, Could easily wrap a cheap lampshade in burlap.

A more daunting {future} DIY project is upholstering a wingback chair. I swear this chair looks amazing in person. I loved the burlappy fabric on the back of this chair, with a smooth gray fabric on the front. Also swooning over the nail head trim (cheap to do) and how easy would it be to cover a pillow in the same fabric!

Moving away from the burlap look, I would love to find an old bench with bones like this that just needed a little TLC. I know I could recover the bench seat, and spray paint the legs. It would be a nice piece to have extra seating if needed in my apartment.

Lots of projects on my mind!
