The One with the New Apartment

After about an hour or so of pacing back and forth in my apartment after the job offer call, I realized that I could start to think ahead. YAY! I put in my leave notice for my current apartment, and hopped in the car to "just look" at some others.

I had done apartment hunting in the area not once, but twice. I am very thorough, and have a very good memory. I didn't need a typed out list of places to go, I KNEW where to go. I went to the area where my first Frisco apartment was. I loved the location, it was close to my awesome super target, my new gym, easy access to 121 and the Dallas North Tollway, lots of shopping and restaurants 1-2 miles away, and overlooked the swanky country club and golf course. There were the apartments I lived in that were luxury apartments built in the 90's, but next door was a newer apartment complex that I had always wanted to go in and look at.

Since I already knew what my old apartments looked like and knew what all the expenses were, I thought I would finally take that tour of the new apartments next door.

The lady that gave me the tour was super nice. We went into the model and I loved everything about it. Nice black appliances, dark cabinets and floors, fun light fixtures, it met my 5 closet requirement (coat, linen, pantry, walk-in, and balcony storage), and a very functional floor plan. It was in my budget too!

Some of the community features include: on-site recycling, VERY nice gym, nice pool,  business center in the clubhouse, and it's a gated community.

The lease agent informed me that if I signed a lease before the end of the day, they do a "look & lease special" and I would get FREE movers. I thought I was coming out just to look. Keep in mind this is still an hour after my job offer. I told her I just got my job as a teacher, and if you're a teacher, they waive the Admin fee of $125! All I had to do was pay for my application, and I got free movers (something I was planning on investing in despite my lack of funds right now).

When I was in the car, I call my mom of course and was going on and on about how great this place was. I don't even think I had driven a mile when I decided that I didn't need to look anywhere else. I was driving farther away from the area I wanted to be in. My mom fully supported my decision of going back and signing papers.

So I get the keys August 9th, and movers are coming August 10th. That's the weekend before all of my beginner teacher academy and new teacher inservice starts. I am hopeful that I can move my closet clothes and other knick knacks that are annoying to pack the night of the 9th, and unpack all my things that weekend.

Until I know what my classroom looks like, I will be decorating my apartment in my head!
