As usual another month has passed without an update. It is funny for me when I log-on to check when my last update was and I reminisce over all that has happened since! So much can happen in a month.
I achieved my goal of see all of the best picture nominations before the Oscars. I would like to go for it again next year, because it made watching on Sunday so much fun! I also love Ellen Degeneres, so that had a little bit to do with it as well.
Around this time fitness kind of takes a back seat with all of the craziness happening at school. I continue to go to Body Pump twice a week, Rachel and I always do our long runs, but with the horrendous weather we have been having, our mid-week runs have taken a hit. It hasn't seemed to affect to much though, because we have already built up that strength in our previous training. My Zumba instructor is also a personal trainer at the gym, and she has taken on a client that interferes with my Wednesday Zumba class. DISASTER. So I have only been getting in my Zumba once a week. My eating has been less than stellar, and I am blaming it on the on-going stress of school, testing, and wrapping up grad school course #1.
I had a little bit of a freak out (okay.. a big freak out) this weekend as I was preparing to take my Final for my class. Here is the story...
I had made perfect scores on all assignments, discussion postings, and a 92 on the midterm. All that was left for me do was submit my Final assignment, and take my Final. Usually everything is due on Sunday by midnight, but because this was the last week of the course, everything was due on Friday by midnight. I had turned in my final assignment around 10pm. I was exhausted, looked at the calendar of due dates, and saw that I could take the final in the morning on Saturday. So I went to bed. (BIG MISTAKE).
I woke up, went to take the final before my 11 mi long run. Except when I clicked on the final, it said it was closed. CLOSED?!?! What?!!? looked at the calendar again and it still said Saturday, so I obviously took a screen shot of my computer. Then I went to the announcements section of the course and saw two announcements that clearly stated any work turned in after Friday at 11:59 pm would not be accepted. UHM this is not good.
So I went to my syllabus to try and calculate what my grade would be without the final. I was thinking, "surely it won't drop THAT low since I have made perfect scores on everything!" Well when I went to the syllabus it said in big bold underlined letters:
If you do not take both the midterm and the final, you can not pass the course.
So this is when the major freak-out started happening. By going to sleep the night before, I had potentially made a $1,000 mistake. I immediately e-mailed my professor, telling her I know I was totally in the wrong, included the screen shot, and asked her for advice. I was pacing around my apartment for hours waiting for her reply. In the meantime, I was copying and pasting all of my discussion postings, in case I had to re-take the course.
She e-mailed me back 5 minutes before I left to go on my run, stating that she was re-opening the final until 10 PM.
Hallelujah! I was so relieved. I took the final, made an A, and therefore received an A in my first class!
Next class starts on Monday, so I have spring break to catch up on much needed rest, finances, and to get ahead with my work as a teacher.
Half-Marathon is March 23rd!
