Inservice

Inservice meetings are pretty boring. You just sit in the cafeteria, and after a couple of hours, the powerpoints start to get old, the administrators have voices that just drone on and on and on. I have learned a lot though. I learn the most when I am just talking with my mentor teacher. She is very very nice. The whole kindergarten team is wonderful! I hope that my first teaching job has a team that works so well together like they do.

There is one first year teacher on the kindergarten team this year... and I am just overwhelmed with all of the stuff I am going to have to invest in when I get my own classroom! border, bins, a GOOD stapler, stickers, cardstock, name tags, FABRIC for the bulletin boards!!! POSTERS for your room! Im not talking cutesy unnecessary posters, but posters like the alphabet letters, numbers, etc. etc. etc. there is so much to do to set up a classroom!!!

It is a lot of fun though. I think I would like to have Kindergarten or first grade because they get to have more fun. Once you get into 3rd 4th or 5th grade.. it's all business.... TAKS, writing, reading chapter books... uhg who wants to do that? but then again you get to TEACH funner things and do more with your classroom. However, the 5th graders are always my height or taller...

Tomorrow is convocation and Kindergarten Orientation. Convocation is where the entire district goes to the Dr. Pepper Arena and gets kind of rallied for a great school year... should be interesting.. and large... considering there are 30 elementary schools alone...

Kindergarten Orientation will be that evening... there is a lot of work to get done before that... I am very interested in how they talk to the parents .

counting down to graduation!
