Since my last post a lot of things have happened! things that I mentioned in the last post were: Convocation and Kindergarten orientation.
Convocation was intense. I felt like I was at a basketball game or rock concert or something... there were SO many teachers. Here are some stats that I remembered. Frisco has almost 38,000 students in the district (there are 30 elementary schools). over 5,000 teachers, 600 of which are first year teachers. Frisco had over 10,000 applications for teaching positions this past year. YIKES. Frisco also starts their first year teachers with 0 experience at $46,000. That is the highest on my ever expanding list of districts I am going to be applying in. Frisco is the fastest growing district in Texas. All of these numbers have happened within the past 10 years.
Kindergarten orientation was very good and informative. I was actually approached by some parents with questions and could ANSWER them! I guess all of that observing has already paid off. They covered a LOT of stuff. Their behavior plan, the procedures of the school (pick-up/drop-off, etc), and just any kind of questions parents to new kinder kids may have.
Friday was just a teacher work day. I helped all of the teachers do the final touches to their rooms. I can not wait to have my own classroom!!! but I know it will be here before I know it! It is crazy to think that this time next year I will be having my first day of school with my own class! (If I can manage to find a job... )
