Whew! what a ride it has been since I got home from work yesterday at 3:30!
I had recently updated some applications I put out and e-mailed some principals. Out of 50+ e-mails I sent out the other day, one principal e-mailed me back asking if I was interested in an ESL position.
ESL = English as a Second Language. It's not a bilingual teacher, they just support all children that speak english as a second language. It's a lot of small group pull-outs from class, inclusion in the classroom, and lots and lots of paperwork.
So I e-mailed this teacher back stating that I had just graduated in May and was not yet certified ESL but would be taking the exam in July. When I had gotten home from work yesterday, she had replied back, "Would you like to come in for an interview tomorrow? 10:30AM?"
PS.. this school is in Klein ISD in Spring, TX (HOUSTON).
I started scrambling. I had plans to go grocery shopping and do my laundry that night. NOT ANYMORE.
I had to work it out with my job to see if I could get the day off. That was pretty stressful since I was packing and wanting to respond to the principal asap. I was thinking I would call my old roomie Cassie to see if I could stay with her that night in Spring. When I called my mom to let her in on the news, she suggested that she come with me and we stay in a hotel. That was nice because I got to shower and get ready in a hotel.
So I grabbed my overnight bag, interview outfit, and supplies (not yet put together) and left to meet my mom at Richard and Kathy's.
The principal was very very nice. I really enjoyed talking to her. I felt like I was talking to her more than interviewing actually. She was dressed casual and I was dressed up in a skirt, blouse, pearls, pantyhose, and heels.
She was from Plano... so she knew of Frisco. The ESL position isn't really fit for a first year teacher considering it is a leadership position in the school (and Im not even certified for it yet!) so she told me she just wanted to meet me after reading my e-mail in case a position were to open in her school, and that she can e-mail all of the principals in Klein ISD that are looking for teachers and tell them she has interviewed me (and hopefully tell them good things!)
I am thankful to have gotten an INTERVIEW!!! Hopefully this experience will open some doors for me. Prayers are always appreciated!!!
Stopped and ate some delicious tex mex before coming back to Dallas today!
