Summer is coming to a close!

August already?!?! Time really flies when you're having fun!!!

Since the last blog, I spent a good amount of time sleeping in, relaxing, seeing a BUNCH of friends I normally don't get to see due to school, went to Arkansas, and had a week of Gifted and Talented training.

Right before I headed to Arkansas, I was B-O-R-E-D out of my mind!! I was ready for my routine back.. I was ready to go back to school!!! I was staying up super late because without too much brain activity going on, I couldn't fall asleep at night, and because I would stay up so late, I would sleep in super late!

Going to Arkansas was a good call. Not only did I get to spend a week with my family, but it took me out of Frisco and school mode. That time flew by. We played games as a family (even went bowling for the first time ever as a family), Mom and I of course hit up the Downstream Casino, and went on flea market scavenger hunts. I love thrifting, antique stores, and flea markets, and Arkansas offers so many awesome ones! I went a little crazy on making purchases this time around, but for what I spent, I have a TON of great things!

When I got home from Arkansas, I had a weekend to clean my apartment, and see some friends before starting my Gifted and Talented training. I only THOUGHT I was ready to go back to school, I am definitely grateful to have 2 more weeks to sleep in!!

The training was from 8-3:30 everyday with an hour and a half for lunch. It was VERY interesting to learn the different characteristics of Gifted and Talented students, deciphering the difference between a a truly gifted learner or a high achiever, Nature v. Nurture, and tons of activity to take my students' thinking to the next level and beyond!

On a sad note, our 5th grade team is being separated, and the 3 bilingual teachers are moving out to the portable buildings. It is a huge bummer, and we fought to stay inside the building, but ultimately, our principal thinks that 5th graders can best handle being out of the school. During our hour and half lunch break, Elizabeth (Bilingual Reading teacher) and I went to the school every day to make the transition. We took down her room one day, and moved it all into the portable since she is going on vacation this next week. It was a super hot and sweaty mess. I know next week I will be there to help my other 2 team members move, and to help in the set up of their new classrooms.

That being said, I am so grateful to have 2 weeks left of summer. Even though I will probably be going up to school to do some work, I will still sleep in and go to the gym. I am just happy being at school! I love this time when the school smells clean and the hallways are quiet. I am super excited to get my class list and prepare for my 2nd class!
