Well I made it through my first day! I prepared myself for the lessons over the weekend and got to school around 6:40 A.M. to chat with my mentor about reading, and was hoping to decorate my door for College week. I barely had to time to get my agenda on the board before I had kids walking in the room. It was picture day today so I was dealing with order packets for most of the morning.
After announcements we do our TRIBES morning circle. Monday is "Caring, Sharing, and Celebrating" Lots of my kids got sick or hurt this weekend... I love morning circle because I truly get to know them and they become closer as a class.
we were barely into math warm-ups when the PTA lady came to get us for pictures. One of the cameras was down so we were expecting a delay. Luckily my class got in and out in about 20 minutes, other 4th grade classes were waiting around for pictures for an hour! That's a big loss of instruction time!
I hit every lesson and worksheet for the day! phew! However we really need to hit math some more and reading needs to be finished sometime... I am really paranoid about teaching something the wrong way or moving on in a subject when not all of my kids are ready to move on.
I have recess duty which sucks because thats 30 minutes of my day standing outside instead of being in my room taking care of things I can't do with kids around. So I decorated my door during lunch and ate during my science powerpoint.
the classroom started smelling funny mid day... like a burning something... some people could smell it and others couldn't. I think I got used to it. I hope it isn't serious!
Ready for tomorrow!
